Hamburger places in Kihei

There are certain foods that we all just have cravings for sometimes. Nothing tastes more like vacation then a nice juicy burger (add on a milkshake to complete the treat)! We have assembled a list of top restaurants in Kihei, Maui to order a burger.  In no particular order…

Stew’s Maui Burgers – Located Kukui Mall, next to Starbucks, Stew’s Maui Burgers is a fantastic option for burgers. All burgers are made with 100% natural grass fed Maui cattle beef sandwiched between Maui sweet bread buns.  Pick from 12 different pre-made burger options (named after various Maui towns), or build your own burger from the large list of menu items.  After ordering at the window, you will be served at your outside table that overlooks South Kihei Road.

Nalu’s – Of the entire list here, Nalu’s is the only restaurant that doesn’t specialize in burgers.  In fact, I think they may only have one or two burgers that they serve on their menu.  But we had to include Nalu’s on the list because of their Apple Brie Burger.  The perfectly melted brie cheese combined with a thin layer a sliced apple will really have your taste buds jumping.  Nalu’s is located in Azeka Makai, across from Ace Hardware.

Cheeseburger Island Style – Located just outside of Kihei in the neighboring town of Wailea, Cheeseburger Island Style is another fantastic dining option.  Found at the Shops of Wailea below Ruth Chris, this restaurant really goes overboard on the island-feel.  All waiters where hula skirts and leis, menu items feature tropical print umbrellas, and beer mugs are etched to look like tiki heads. If you are really hungry you can try the Cheeseburger Challenge, which will have you racing to complete a behemoth of a burger (topped with egg, kalua pork, bacon, and chili fries to name a few) in under 20 minutes.

Peggy Sues – Very similar to Johnny Rockets, Peggy Sues is your traditional 60s diner. While you wait for your order, select a song from the personal juke boxes. Combine your burger with fries and a shake that is large enough to satisfy two.  If you head to Peggy Sues on the first Saturday of the month, you will be in for an added bonus!  Classic cars from all across Maui park in the parking lot in front of the restaurant and the owners talk story with all the curious fans of old fashioned automobiles.  Peggy Sues is located in Azeka Mauka next to Coconuts Fish Tacos.

Cow Pig BunCow Pig Bun prides itself on two menu items: burgers and bourbon.  The burgers on this menu are a bit more gourmet, with the most affordable “house burger” starting at $15. Pair a visit to Cow Pig Bun with a stop at the Maui Brewing Company, which is right across the street!

Moose McGillycuddy’s – To my knowledge, this is the only restaurant on the list that actually has a night dedicated to burgers!  That’s right, every Wednesday night at Moose McGillycuddy’s you can order any burger on the menu for $8.50.  Head to this restaurant across from Kamaole Beach Park II during sunset and enjoy beautiful sunset views over the Pacific Ocean from your dinner table.
