Here on Maui, visitors and locals alike tend to wake up with the sun and get the day started (the beach is waiting!). With an early start, you tend to eat meals at different times as well. You might start getting hungry for dinner around 4 or 5pm. We have assembled a list of great establishments on Maui’s south shore to head to for a happy hour drink or snack.
Threes Bar & Grill
Located in the Kihei Triangle (across from Kalama Park), this restaurant was started by three surfing buddies that all worked in the restaurant business. It has become a favorite spot for happy hour as all appetizers and sushi rolls are half off! Enjoy dishes like Kalua Pork Nachos ($7), Mediterranea whole wheat flat bread salad ($6.50), coconut crusted shrimp ($6.50), and much more! Happy hour drinks also start at $3, and that includes a margarita! After you are finished, walk across the street to watch the sunset over Cove Park (a great beginners surfing beach).
The 5 Palms is located oceanfront on the groundfloor of the Mana Kai Resort. The fine dining open air restaurant has incredible views down the sprawling Keawakapu Beach. With Happy Hour running from 3pm to 7pm, there is plenty of time for you to stop by and get your fill on tropical drinks, wines, and over 15 different beers. Appetizers and sushi rolls are half off if you purchase a drink. We can’t stress enough how wonderful the views are from the 5 Palms. Sit back, enjoy tasty food and drinks, and listen to waves crashing on the beach just a few yards away (pictured above)!
Maui Brewing Company
Located in the Maui Tech Park (up Lipoa Street), the Maui Brewing Company is your go-to spot for anyone that loves sampling beers. Choose from over 25 beers all made on Maui and sit outdoors enjoying views of Kihei down below. Between 3pm and 5pm all beers are $1 off. Each day of the week a different food truck parks outside the brewery and can deliver your order right to your table.
